It is located in the downtown of Linjiang, a frontier bridge across China and North Korea. It is a historical monument, experiencing baptism of War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, engraving the great friendship between Chinese people and North Korean people which is obtained by our both side’s blood and lives. At that time, we voluntary army, including 350,000 officers and soldiers just went across the bridge through Yalu River. The bridge was originally built in 1935. In August,1950, the US army called several planes to invade the air of Linjiang and throw the bomb to Yalu River Bridge and railway station nearby, the part of which near North Korea was destroyed. In May, 1955, we recovered the bridge successfully. Now, we can also see the remained craters and bullet holes. On August 11 th, when 4 hostile aircrafts were bombing a train engine car filled with materiel, the driver of the train, Xu Guochen rushed into the engine car cab without fearing being killed, then drove it to the escaping cave, the hostile aircrafts tracked him and bombed the train. On the half way, his four fingers were bombed, kept bleeding, but he kept driving, and succeeded to protect the train. In 1951, Xu Guochen was awarded hero for War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, and received by Chairman Mao. The heroic deeds of Xu Guochen ’s rescue of trains spread over the country, which encourages all the army and civilian to protect our country and resist US Aggression and aid North Korea. Reaching the bridge, people visit the past and recall the martyr, expecting the eternal peace of the world, even the fighting scene of voluntary army and heroic posture of the strong army are just like appearing in front of us again.
